History

History is vital to a rich and broad primary education. It helps pupils to make sense of the present as well as the past, and to appreciate the complexity and diversity of human societies and development.  Our pupils enjoy learning about the past and how this has impacted the world we live in today. Across their primary learning journey, our children study a wide range of topics from the history of Britain and the wider world, based upon the Primary National Curriculum programmes of study.

Key aspects of the history curriculum taught across the learning journey teach our pupils to:

  • Chronologically order events in time

  • Find differences and similarities

  • Write and talk about the past

  • Use different sources for information

  • Ask and answer key questions.
